The Story of Stuff with Annie Leonard →
A really interesting “video” that talks about our consumerist lifestyle. It’s kind of scary and it’s something that I think about more and more. I’m certainly part of the chain she talks about, I buy lots of crap that I don’t need and I almost always feel guilty about it. Well, no more - one of my goals for 2008 is to resist the urge to buy useless crap and...

Sia at SXSW 2008 →
Sia was one of my favorite performers at SXSW 2006 and she’s coming back! Yay!

Funny and telling. “YouTube - Paris Hilton. Fast, a little out of control, used by every fifteen year old in town, looks alright but you get kinda tired of seeing it everywhere.”
I dream about flying.
Last night I had a dream where I was riding in a stunt plane flying around some imaginary city with unrealistically tall buildings and trees. I was in the back of the plane and I’m normally not to good with planes, but in my dream I was loving every minute, even the minute where we crashed into a tree. The faceless pilot (I remember him being kind of like a Spicoli-type character, but...
Pitchfork: Okkervil River Drop Free Covers Mixtape →
Okkervil River is really cool for offering this up for free, and I love they’re on the mix tape bandwagon. Also, big props to Pitchfork for mirroring the download. Yay for holiday spirit!
Sanderson To Wrap Wheel Series →
I’m not sure I’ll ever have the time to actually make it to the end, as I don’t think I’ve made it past book 5, but I’m a big fan of Brandon Sanderson’s work and think he’s a really great choice to take over for the late Robert Jordan.
Mix Tape USB Drive | We Heart Stuff →
If you’re looking for a great gift idea, you could do worse than creating a “mix tape” and putting it on one of these babies.

See, skillz you learn playing video games *can* be applied in real life!
Techland: RIP Facebook? →
Rip Facebook? I doubt it. Geeks can be so blind to the rest of the world some times. My guess is most Facebook users either don’t know, or don’t care aboout Beacon and by the time they do (if they ever do) it’ll have been addressed. Still, worth reading and clearly Facebook need to sort some things out, especially in regards to PR and how they connect with their community.
The Escapist: "Gerstmanngate" FAQ →
(Not linking directly to Gamespot because I find this whole mess a bit distasteful.) Gamespot has posted a FAQ to try and explain the firing of Jeff Gerstmann and the whole Kane & Lynch debacle: “The FAQ claims that statements regarding details of Gerstmann’s departure from Gamespot were not made due to both CNET internal policy and California laws, which led to a “void of...
An interview with Philip Pullman →
I’m eagerly awaiting The Golden Compass and I’m a huge fan of the books. Here is an interview with Philip Pullman, who despite coming of a bit abrasive, does a good job of talking about his views, how they’re reflected in the books and addressing some of the controversy surrounding them. The last passage is especially telling: ”Qualities such as authority and love and...
Take and Take Five: →
Another mixtape for you! This time it’s got Cornershop and Weezer!
Bon Iver at SXSW →
I’m still waiting for his album to come out, but I’ve heard enough to know that it’s good stuff. And, according to CMJ anyway, he’ll be performing at SXSW this year!

it’s raining “One-quarter inch per hour” in Seattle, we’re going to break a record, yet The Times still says “moderate rain.” Funny.
thanks to @twatson and @garrettmurray for picking up the office last night. I’m here expecting to clean, and it’s already clean!
if this is “moderate rain” I’m scared if we ever have heavy rain…
mudslides, flooding, downed trees, etc. We’re ordering in Pizza for lunch today…
getting ready to head over to the Fling’s place for dinner.
settling down for a spot of TV, then bed. Lots to do tomorrow.

oh man, Superbad was super good. McLovin’ rules!
LOLing at how people (including me) are reacting to the snow here.
made an appointment for a hair cut. Some really cute girls made a case for chopping it all off…still not sure what I’ll do…
thanks @nickf for the ride and HOLY CRAP IT’S SNOWING!
@sourjayne and @jcroft - you guys are crazy. Snow rules!
@jbryant - OMG you’re an asshole! :) (That was classic, BTW. Do it again…lol.)
